All About Stouffville!

IMG_1559Have you ever wanted to live in a town small enough to relax and enjoy life but big enough to never get bored? Whitchurch-Stouffville has an enormous amount of activities for children, adults and families. Something for everyone to enjoy!

Stouffville has many excellent community parks open for the town to enjoy, including a brand new Skate Park, which is now open. Located throughout Stouffville, you’ll find numerous splash pads, baseball diamonds, soccer pitches, basketball courts, playgrounds and walking trails. In the winter, volunteers create and maintain outdoor ice rinks for everyone to enjoy! If you are a dog-lover, bring ‘Rover’ to the Stouffville Off-Leash Dog Park, located on Rougeview Ave., where you can let him run free.

Stouffville has organized different groups and programs for people of all ages. The recreation centres of Stouffville offer swimming, skating and indoor soccer. The community centres also offer so many different programs for seniors, adults and kids including fitness programs and walking groups and art. The public library is expecting a large expansion and the public has been involved in the decision making for this. You can find the new floor plan on the town’s website.

During the summer breaks, winter breaks and March breaks, the town holds many different kids camps that are fun and exciting or children of all ages. Families can choose from a variety: sports, theatre, kinder, hockey and soccer.  This is a terrific way to keep the kids busy through the holidays.

Stouffville is filled with art and culture as well; the Lebovic Centre for Arts is one of the oldest buildings in Stouffville. It hosts performances of theatre, dance and music every year. As well, check out the Whitchurch-Stouffville Museum as it also has programs for kids and you can even book a tour for yourself or with a group. Find out what exhibit excites you on the website! The Latcham Gallery is located on Main St. and is the community art gallery. Here you can find exhibits from local and provincial artists.

Finally, Stouffville hosts a Farmer’s Market every week from May-October where farmers sell their own grown foods. You’ll love exploring the bounty of Ontario in the open air, picking the freshest foods for your family and buying right from your farmer!
